Photographs: Collection of Lewis Kaplan, Phillips de Pury & Company, London, 2008

€60,00

Issued for the landmark Phillips de Pury & Company auction held in London on 29 June 2008, this catalogue documents the celebrated photography collection assembled by Lewis Kaplan, a passionate and discerning collector whose eye ranged across some of the most influential photographic practices of the late twentieth century. Published shortly after Kaplan’s death, the volume stands both as an auction catalogue and as a tribute to a collector whose vision helped shape an exceptional body of work.

The collection brings together leading figures of contemporary photography, reflecting the diversity of photographic expression from documentary and portraiture to conceptual and staged imagery. Featured artists include Andreas Gursky, Shirin Neshat, Roni Horn, Nobuyoshi Araki, Boris Mikhailov, Loretta Lux, Larry Clark, Mario Giacomelli, Duane Michals, Vik Muniz, Rodney Graham and Andrés Serrano, among many others. Each work is accompanied by detailed catalogue entries, provenance, exhibition history and auction estimates.

Designed with generous white space and high-quality colour reproductions, the publication offers an engaging survey of international photography at the turn of the twenty-first century. Beyond its role as a sale catalogue, it serves as a valuable reference documenting a significant private collection and the evolving market for contemporary photographic art.

The only exception applies to custom-made items, which may only be returned if they arrive damaged. These items are clearly marked on the product page.

Even oversized or heavy pieces may be returned, but please note that return shipping for such items can be costly.

We recommend reviewing dimensions carefully and contacting us with any questions before making a purchase.
