Part of the SS collection, SSB01W draws on the understated geometry and functionality of improvised utilitarian furniture. Translating these archetypal forms into a contemporary collectible object, sashaxsasha emphasizes structural clarity, balanced proportions, and material contrast.
The SS series was first presented at the Collectible exhibition in Brussels in 2020, where the inaugural black pieces emphasized the raw sculptural quality of forms created through a spontaneous and intuitive process. The series later evolved through the introduction of materials traditionally associated with refined craftsmanship — including veneers of rare woods — creating a deliberate contrast between almost accidental geometries and luxurious finishes.
In SSB01W, dark eucalyptus veneer introduces depth, texture, and a rich tonal character while preserving the clean architectural language of the original form. Balancing sculptural presence with everyday functionality, the bench functions equally as seating and as a strong visual element within contemporary interiors.
