Istvan Fisch, Composition abstraite (1981)

€3.600,00

This elegant abstract composition exemplifies Istvan Fisch’s synthesis of architectural structure and expressive freedom. Fisch (1922–2007) was a Hungarian-born painter, sculptor, and architect who forged his career in the post-war Parisian art scene. After studying at the Budapest University of Fine Arts and the Academy of Arts in Rome, he moved to Paris in the late 1950s and exhibited there regularly in solo and group shows. Fisch’s work drew on constructivist traditions (reflecting his training in architecture) as well as the expressive abstraction of the École de Paris, yielding a oeuvre of “vibrating forms” and tangled lines – infused with emotional intensity. In Composition abstraite, a subtle palette of smoky greys and earthy tones is enlivened by bold black linework and textured washes, creating a dynamic interplay between geometry and gesture. Delicate linear elements intersect with broader strokes, suggesting both an architect’s disciplined design and the spontaneity of lyrical abstraction. The result is a contemplative yet dynamic image – a well-balanced union of structure and spontaneity that reflects Fisch’s distinctive artistic voice in the late 20th-century abstract art milieu.

Cultural habits

Cultural Habits is a space for those who see objects not as possessions, but as silent carriers of meaning. Our curator's view is drawn to objects where aesthetic form meets cultural significance. When we see the balance of form and essence, we meet true beauty. An artifact is more than just an object. It is memory and thought embodied in an object. It is the ability of objects to tell stories — without words, through surface, weight, silence.
