Jacques Germain — Ink on Paper, Signed & Studio Stamp

€1.550,00

A refined and intimate work by Jacques Germain, a central figure of the postwar École de Paris and an important voice within Abstraction Lyrique. Trained at the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germain developed a distinctive visual language in which gestural freedom is anchored by a strong sense of structure.
In this composition, the artist reduces his vocabulary to its essentials — line, rhythm, and spatial balance. Fine, energetic ink strokes unfold across the paper in a fluid yet controlled arrangement, forming a network of marks that feels both spontaneous and deliberate. The composition carries a quiet musicality, where repetition and variation create a sense of movement without excess.
The restraint of means heightens the intensity of the work: black ink on paper allows each gesture to retain clarity and precision, while the open ground gives the composition space to breathe. This economy reveals the immediacy of Germain’s hand and offers a direct insight into his working process.
Signed with the artist’s initial lower right and bearing the studio stamp on the reverse, the work stands as a compelling example of Germain’s works on paper — prized for their clarity, balance, and expressive restraint.

Cultural habits

  1. Cultural Habits is a space for those who see objects not as possessions, but as silent carriers of meaning. Our curator's view is drawn to objects where aesthetic form meets cultural significance. When we see the balance of form and essence, we meet true beauty. An artifact is more than just an object. It is memory and thought embodied in an object. It is the ability of objects to tell stories — without words, through surface, weight, silence.
